The gold-standard functional test for glaucoma — mapping your complete field of vision, including peripheral areas you can't consciously monitor yourself.
Your visual field is everything you can see — straight ahead and to the sides — without moving your eyes. Conditions like glaucoma often damage peripheral vision first, and because the brain is remarkably good at "filling in" small blind spots, most people don't notice this loss until it's significant.
A visual field test, or perimetry, precisely maps your complete field of vision to catch these blind spots early. At Hazari Eye Hospital, we use the latest-generation Humphrey Field Analyser from Zeiss — introduced in 2020, a first for Marathwada — the world's gold standard for this test.
Repeated over time, this test also lets our doctors monitor whether your glaucoma treatment is successfully stabilising your vision.
Rest your chin on the machine's support, one eye tested at a time.
Small flashes of light appear at various points in your visual field.
Press a button each time you see a flash, even faint ones.
The machine generates a detailed map of your field of vision.
Have glaucoma risk factors? A visual field test could catch vision loss before you notice it.
